This page is provided by Future Reference, Inc. ("Future Reference," "we," "us," or "our") and applies to www.futurereference.xyz, the Future Reference mobile application, and any social channels we operate, including but not limited to Substack, Instagram, and LinkedIn (collectively, the "Platform"). It explains how brand references, user-generated content, affiliate links, and intellectual property are handled on the Platform.

About the Platform

Future Reference is a peer-to-peer resale platform where individuals list and transact secondhand items they already own, often organized around shared brand affinities.

No Brand Affiliation

Future Reference is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tibi, Khaite, Toteme, The Row, Jamie Haller, or any other brand referenced on the Platform. All trademarks, logos, and brand names are the property of their respective owners.

User-Generated Listings

All listings, ISO posts, and trade requests on the Platform are created by individual users. Sellers are responsible for the accuracy of their own listings, including item descriptions, condition, and authenticity. Listings and other user-generated content are provided "as is," and Future Reference is not a party to any transaction between users. Future Reference does not guarantee the completeness or accuracy of any user-supplied product information.

Brand Names & Reference Images

To help users identify items on the Platform, Future Reference may display brand names, product names, product information, and reference images sourced from brand or retailer product pages. These materials are used solely for identification, comparison, and illustrative purposes — for example, to indicate which brand or style a listed, requested, or traded item corresponds to. This use is intended to fall within the doctrine of nominative fair use.

Reference images are illustrative only and do not depict the actual item being offered, requested, or traded. The condition, color, age, fit, fabric, and other characteristics of the actual item may differ materially from any reference image shown. Users should rely on the seller's own photographs, descriptions, and direct communication when evaluating an item.

We are continually updating our listing and posting workflows to increase the use of user-uploaded images and user-provided descriptions, particularly for items being offered for sale.

Where available, Future Reference may include a link to an original product page or retailer source. Some of these links may be affiliate links, as described in the Affiliate Relationships section below.

Authenticity & Conduct

Future Reference provides tools for reporting concerns about listings, sellers, or content. We reserve the right to review, remove, or restrict content or users that violate our policies or applicable law.

Affiliate Relationships

This Affiliate Disclosure is provided pursuant to the Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, 16 C.F.R. Part 255.

Future Reference participates in affiliate programs and may have a paid connection with certain brands, retailers, and affiliate networks. When you click an affiliate link on the Platform — including links to original product pages or retailer sources — and complete a qualifying purchase, Future Reference may receive a commission or other compensation from the affiliate program or retailer. This compensation does not affect the price you pay.

Affiliate compensation does not influence the pricing, ranking, or visibility of user listings on the Platform. Where Future Reference shares editorial content or recommendations (for example, in newsletters, brand guides, or social posts), we aim to provide our honest opinions, findings, and recommendations regardless of any compensation we may receive.

Affiliate links may also be disclosed at the point of placement (for example, within a Substack post or on a brand or product page), in addition to this disclosure.

Intellectual Property & DMCA

Future Reference respects the intellectual property rights of brands, creators, and other third parties, and asks that users do the same.

If you believe that content on the Platform infringes a copyright you own or control, you may submit a notice of infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"). Your notice must include all of the following:

A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf;
Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed;
Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, including its location on the Platform (URL or other reasonably sufficient information to allow us to locate the material);
Your contact information, including name, address, telephone number, and email address;
A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
